Travel in Covid Times

Are you planning on traveling internationally?

If so, the first thing that you need to do is make a plan. A plan of how you are going to get from point A to point B especially now that most of the countries in the western world (but not only there) are locked down for the third or even fourth wave of Covid 19 Pandemic.

Whether you are traveling locally or internationally, there are certain tips and tricks to keep in mind to make your time on vacation, as easy and as smooth as possible. The first tip in this article is no quarantine travel, also known as self contained travel.

No quarantining means that you are traveling inside the country that you are located. If you already know that you are traveling locally, then you are safe. If not, then you have two options. One, you can travel locally and see for yourself what the risks are, or Two, you can travel internationally and attempt to find out what the risks are while traveling in another country (we wouldn’t suggest the latter).

No quarantining when traveling locally simply refers to being safe when traveling within your own country. For instance, if you are traveling in your own country for a week long winter working holiday, you can still enjoy local attractions and night life. Pretty much the same as if you were in an international destination.

In most cases, we refer also to “local knowledge”, that is, we are talking about visiting a few interesting places within your own country. If you are currently located in Malaysia for example, for a week’s worth of vacation, you can then visit places that you know but have never seen personally, places like the Taman Negara Pahang National Park or the The island of Penang and the historical George Town. You can gain a better understanding of local culture and tradition by learning from these places. While this may not seem like much, it adds up over time and can make all the difference.

“How to Put This Idea Into Action?” To travel safely within your own country, you need to make sure that you are aware of the customs and behaviors that everyone around you does. Even if you only know places by name or because you studied in school or read about in a magazine, it doesn’t mean that you know this places in your very own country on a deeper level. By visiting the local attractions and museums, you can gain a better understanding of the history of the region and country you live in, which is invaluable.

Traveling with family is a great way to enjoy your holiday, especially when you take advantage of guided tours and adventure activities. Although this kind of experience may be more expensive than just staying at home, it will allow you to not only explore the sites and tourist attractions of your own country but to get a great deal more exposure to the culture, people, and sights that otherwise you’ll probably just hear about in the talks from someone else who’s been there but not from your personal perspective.

Your children will also benefit from being in familiar surroundings and enjoying themselves more while you are enjoying your own relaxation time. The best thing about taking family vacations in your own country is that they are cheaper, and that might make you feel safer as it is indeed your country, your idioms and your language spoken.
